Scenes from Battleship Potemkin (2008)

Scenes from Battleship Potemkin was written to accompany scenes from the silent film of the same title.  The movie depicts an uprising triggered by the murder of a sailor by one of his officers, and this work explores the growing unrest after the death occurs.  The music moves through a series of moods ranging from calm to elegiac to determined and eventually frenzied, mirroring the rising intensity of the story and visuals.  Though originally intended as a score, the piece can be performed with or without the accompanying excerpts from the film.
